Course Curriculum

Year One

Month 1-3

The Digital World

Introductory module exploring the synergies between technology, business, and leadership through interactive sessions on relevant topics.

Month 3-4

Programming Foundations

Programming fundamentals, data handling and analytics, visualisation techniques, control flow and logic, functions and modularity, data structures, algorithms.

Month 4-6

Software Engineering Fundamentals

Awareness and experience of each of the stages of the software development lifecycle. Including requirements gathering, system analysis and design, implementation and evaluation.

Month 6

Professional Practice

Develops career and personal skills, including emotional intelligence, creative thinking, personal branding, corporate social responsibility, and digital literacy.

Month 7-8

Analytical Problem Solving

Essential analytical techniques and tools, including modelling and statistical concepts.

Month 10-12

Artificial Intelligence and Data Concepts

Utilising artificial intelligence and data analysis techniques to solve real-world digital and technology challenges. Applying AI tools and data management systems effectively, ensuring ethical considerations and data integrity in their solutions.
Year Two

Month 13-16

Computing Systems and Security

Experience of each of the stages of the software development lifecycle. A number of cases will be explored to demonstrate a variety of approaches, and highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each approach.

Month 17-20

Emerging Topics in Digital

Practical experience in data exploration, data management, and machine learning, bridging business requirements with technical solutions.

Month 18

Professional Practice

Develops leadership and professional skills, including negotiation, building high-performance teams, influencing others, and managing risk.

Month 18-21

Business Analysis (Business Analyst Pathway)

Business process modelling and analysis as a key skill for operations, change management, and consultancy.

Month 18-21

Change Leadership (IT Consultant Pathway)

Deconstructing organisational change projects, exploring agile models in change management, and evaluating the risks associated with significant transformations.

Month 18-21

Data Analytics for Business Intelligence (Data Analyst Pathway)

Understanding of how digital technologies and data drive decision making and support sustainable performance in modern organisations.

Advanced Software Engineering (Software Engineer Pathway)

Challenges in developing software intensive systems and the role of systematic methods and processes in addressing them and adapting to emerging technologies.

Month 18-21

Ethical Hacking and Security Monitoring (Cyber Security Pathway)

Analyse and mitigate cyber threats, apply ethical and legal standards, and ensure security through intelligence, ethical hacking, and incident response.

Designing Secure Networks (Network Engineer Pathway)

Design, build, and secure complex network systems. understand the principles of network foundations, operating systems, and cryptographic key management.

Month 22-24

Business for Digital Professionals

How organisations function, including digital domain and the organisation’s environment. It will also address how digital advances are disrupting business and supporting societal goals.
Year Three

Month 24-27

Technology Solutions Development

How technology solutions are conceived, developed and then managed through to end of life. Systems engineering and effects-based engineering - core knowledge and skills for the digital & technology solutions professional - apprentice will explore the system lifecycle and how people and processes all influence solutions.

Month 28-31

Digital Solutions Project

Building on the skills gained in programming and software development to apply system development to a complex project in a group environment.

Month 31-33

Digital Business and New Technologies (Business Analyst and IT Consultant Pathways)

Cyber security, in terms of threats, mitigations and design implications, for complex domains such as cyber physical systems, autonomous vehicles, and distributed systems.

Month 31-33

Machine Learning for Business Impact (Data Analyst Pathway)

Practical experience in data exploration, data management, and machine learning, bridging business requirements with technical solutions.

Month 31-33

Advanced Programming (Software Engineer Pathway)

Develop software using standard tools for build, configuration, version control, deployment. Write high-quality code in at least one language.

Month 31-33

Strategic Cyber Security (Cyber Security and Network Engineer Pathway)

Analyse and mitigate cyber threats, apply ethical and legal standards, and ensure security through intelligence, ethical hacking, and incident response.

Month 34-40

Apprenticeship Assessment

Project report accompanied by presentation. Portfolio of evidence supported by a professional discussion.
