At MK:U, we take an inclusive and flexible approach to entry requirements. We recognise that talent and potential come in many forms, not just traditional qualifications.
We are committed to widening participation and supporting learners from all backgrounds. Whether you are a school or college leaver, returning to education, changing careers or already working in industry.
We aim to understand your potential, not just your past results.
Most applicants will typically have 96 UCAS tariff points & GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent). However, these are guidelines rather than strict cut-offs.
Value More Than Just Grades
We actively encourage applications from individuals who may not meet traditional academic requirements but can demonstrate:
- Relevant work experience
- Industry knowledge or technical skills
- Motivation and commitment to the programme
- Transferable skills gained through employment or life experience
Alternative Routes to Entry
If you have previously completed relevant study, you may be able to use Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) towards your application or shorten your programme.
We also recognise skills and knowledge Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) gained through:
- Work experience
- Professional training
- Informal learning
This allows us to assess your suitability based on what you already know and can do, not just formal qualifications.
Accelerated Pathways
For applicants with significant prior experience or learning, we may offer:
- Accelerated entry points
- Opportunities to fast-track elements of the programme
- Tailored learning plans to avoid repeating existing knowledge
This ensures your time is used effectively and reflects your current level of expertise. Applications are assessed using a holistic approach, which may include:
- Application review
- Interview or informal discussion
- Skills or aptitude assessment
